Cross-Country County Championships
Simon Nott won the U15 boys' event in 12:28 and Francesca Bentley was second in the U11 fun run in 8:17. However, only three men and no ladies ran in the final championship race of the season.

Bromham Pudding Race 10k
On a cold crisp morning, there was a good run by Simon and a personal best for Dave Telfer, while Tony was dressed as Santa.

Gower Marathon and 10k
Stu March ran the Endurancelife Costal Trail Marathon in Gower on in 05:28:06 finishing 79th out of 101. He describes it as:
A very hilly affair, but a beautiful bright day with incredible scenery – love it!
Lara did the 10K in 1:34:26 finishing 119th out of 125.

Hellrunner: Hell Down South
Stu ran this 10/11-ish country miles, multi-terrain featuring “bog of doom”, pools, and the hills of hell in 1:51:35 and described it as lots of wet muddy fun.

Endurancelife Costal Trail Series – Stage One: Dorset
On a difficult course, Stu finished the half-marathon in 3 hours 16 seconds while Lara required 1 hour 30 minutes 27 seconds for the 10k.

Calne Leisure
Judging by readings from those with GPS watches, the course was closer to 7 miles than 10km. Conditions were a little damp but everybody seemed to enjoy it.

Snowdonia Marathon
Stu March took part in this demanding and spectacular marathon.
Stu reports that it was an "amazing experience" but wet and windy. He finished 672nd out 1133 finishers in a time of 4:25:49, which is pretty impressive considering the climb of 1580 metres according to his watch data.

The fog cleared just before the start of the race to give some lovely conditions for an excellent race with Steve and Tony in particular racing to the very end. There were only 42 finishers.

As well as the Chippenham half-marathon, there was another local half-marathon on September 14.
Stu March finished 1080 in a personnel best of 1:37:39 while Amanda Mackenzie was 2734 in 1:48:14.

Steve Watts was our sole runner in the race.
Steve finished in 1:11:39 to finish 144 out of 439 runners. Mandy (Steve's wife) finished 273rd in 1:23:05.

Race The Train
Fiona Halfpenny raced the train in Tywyn. Conditions were wet underfoot and Fiona finished 559th in 2 hours 15 minutes 22 seconds but did not beat the train. Results page

Heddington Handicap
27 runners were fortunate as the weather cleared up long enough for this year's Heddington Handicap to be run in the dry.
Dave Halliday was in the first group to start in the handicap but was not caught. The first lady over the line was Karen Butler.
Simon Nott was the fastest runner in a time of 19:13 and Debbie Jones the fastest lady in 23:18.

Barbury Castle Track 'n' Trail 5
Steve Watts and Fiona Halfpenny both competed in the Barbury Castle Track 'n' Trail 5 on 23 July.
Steve was 60th in a time of 39:40 while Fiona was 108th in 45:23. There were 168 finishers.

Four runners from Calne took part in the Moonraker races held on July 6 in Urchfont.
In the main 10k race, Dave Telfer was the first Calne runner home.

Tony Nott and Nichola Newton both completed the Neolithic Marathon last Sunday.

Corsham St George's 10k
Neil Bentley seemed to have recovered from running the London Marathon, as he was the first Calne Runner to finish in 43:17 (his best 10k time in a Calne vest). With a big turn out for this championship event, he had to be fast, as there were a lot of Calne runners hot on his heels. The men finished eleventh in the team event.

Heddington Hill Climb
Something strange happened for the hill climb - the sun shone! It was Simon Nott who made hay, as he climbed the mile in 6 minutes 53 to beat the winner from last year, Alistair Bartlett of Avon Avalley Runners, and sixteen other runners.
The first lady was again Nichola Newton.

Calne Fun Run
The third race of the club's championship was the Calne Fun Run on 30 March.
In his first race as a member, Barry Seed was the first Calne runner home. Dave Telfer continues to lead the men's championship while Nichola Newton gained the lead in ladies' championship because Lara Rushton was ill and unable to run.

The Terminator
The second race of the club's championship was The Terminator on 24 February.
Tony Nott was the first Calne runner home by a long way despite claiming he was struggling. Neil Bentley leads the men's championship (closely followed by Dave Telfer) while Nichola Newton is the only lady to have started a championship race this year.

Stu and (other half) Lara took part in the second race of this series. Stu completed the 10k in exactly 51 minutes, while Lara finished the 5k in 33:26.

Sportzform Opening Times
Sportzform have amended their opening times. The shop is now open 10AM to 4PM on Monday, closed on Tuesday and open 10AM to 5PM for the rest of the week including Saturday but closed on Sunday.
