On a wet and windy day the men failed to get a full team out on Sunday but Simon Nott won his U17 race.

Simon was the clear winner of his race, while Chessie Bentley was the first girl (and third overall in the U11 fun run.

With many runners doing long distances races at the moment, it was almost a case of last man standing with only three runners taking part in this month's handicap.

Tony Nott, Nichola Newton and Dave Telfer all completed 85 miles of the Ridgeway Challenge with Nichola winning a gold medal as first V40 lady.

Stu March completed the Endurancelife Classic Crossings on Saturday, in just over 9 hours. The course was from Plymouth, along the National Trust coastal path down to Salcombe. He says it was 34 miles of tough hilly terrain, and three estuary crossings to swim across, when he had to strip down to the Speedo’s and stick everything in a dry bag to paddle across.

Most Calne runners struggled a little despite good conditions at Pewsey this evening.

It was a damp training session but that did not stop Nichola and Dave from setting best times. Thank you to Tony for putting out markers on the route and doing the timing along with Lara.

Simon Nott wins again!

Dave Telfer ran a personal best while Steve Watts pipped Neil Bentley to be first Calne runner home.

Doug and Fiona both ran the fun run before the main race as did Nick (10:00), Lucy (11:55), Chessie (11:02) and Harriet (13:54).

Eight runners took part in the Cherhill handicap training session this morning. Thank you to Tony for putting out markers on the route and doing the timing.

Barry's time is a new course record, while Lara and Neil both ran personal bests.

Tony Nott took part in this ultra-marathon race and just over 100 miles in 30 hours before retiring.

There was an exciting conclusion to the race for the championship points as Neil raced past Dave on the final corner after both had led the other earlier in the face.

Steve finished in 21st place in a time of 33:51. There were 106 finishers.

Fiona and Doug Hamilton finished 7946th and 7947th respectively in 5:58:59.

Unusually for a championship race there was only one runner from Calne but no surprises for guessing it was Dave Telfer who finished 55th (out of 87) in 1:22:40 and took full points for the championship.

Dave Telfer completed the 33 mile race in 6 hours 29 minutes 46 seconds while Paul Harnett dropped out half-way.

There were 161 finishers.

Steve Watts finished nineteenth in 52:24.

Two days after the Roundway Chase four members of the club raced the same course but the weather conditions were far wetter than on race day.

Kate Brown was 79th in the half-marathon finishing in 1:58:08.

Four runners took part in the inaugural Cherhill handicap training session on a fine Saturday morning. Thank you to Tony for putting out markers on the route and doing the timing.

Fiona Hamilton was our sole runner this year in the London Marathon finishing in a time of 5h09:57 in 27378th place.

Simon Nott was 76th in mini-marathon in a time of 16:26.

Adrian Simpkins led the Calne runners home for the first time.

Simon Nott was fourth in 35:34 but Adrian gets the maximum championship points.

There were 555 finishers.

Lots of Calne runners at Bowood on a lovely morning for a championship race.

Although nobody was listed as belonging to Calne in the results, there were at least two runners from the club.

Stu was a late replacement for his colleague and appears in the results as Barry Miller. No news on why Linda is not in the results.

Andy Driver had a rare outing in a local race yesterday but was beaten by Simon Nott.

Doug and Fiona Hamilton finished together in 2:08:13 (chip time of 2:02:49). There were more than 3500 finishers.

Neil Bentley was 20th out of 26 in the final race of this season's Wessex Cross-Country League. His time was 41:44. In addition, Chessie was 16th in the U11 fun run.

Children Today are looking for volunteers to take part in the London Bupa 10k Run. This event takes place on Monday 25th May 2009.
This 10K race starts at Birdcage Walk and follows an anti-clockwise route around the City of Westminster and the City of London where you will pass many of London’s famous sights including the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
Children Today provide vitally important specialised equipment for disabled children and young people up to the age of 25 throughout the UK. These specially adapted pieces of equipment are life enhancing and they enable greater freedom and independence to help children to achieve their full potential.

Stu March and Lara Rushton took part in the marathon and half-marathon respectively. Lara finished 169 out of 182 taking 3 hours 2 minutes 55 seconds while Stu was 73 out of 103 in 5 hours 6 minutes 21 seconds.

Steve Watts is again the first Calne runner in the second championship race of the year.

There were 691 finishers

Neil Bentley was 22nd out of 25 in the third race of this season's Wessex Cross-Country League. His time was 36:59.

Stu March was 39th out of 50 in a time of 7 hours 46 minutes for 40 miles in his first ultra.

There was a disappointing turnout for the first championship race of the year.

Lara Rushton and Stu March ran the half-marathon in the third race of this series in Portland in 3:07:13 and 3:07:15 respectively finishing 237 and 238 out of 246 runners.

After the very cold weather, it was probably a relief to discover that the weather was warmer and the ground softer.
